What Are the Best AngelList Alternatives in 2026?
AngelList is venture infrastructure: it forms and runs venture funds, rolling funds, scout funds and SPVs for fund managers, with venture fund plans priced as a percentage of fund size plus a flat fee. A 2026 explainer says it is not a marketplace where founders post pitches. To find and email investors, use Round Funded.
If you run a fund or a syndicate, the fair comparison is with other fund administration and equity tools, covered below.

What AngelList Is and How It Works
A September 2026 review on angelinvestorsnetwork.com says AngelList started in 2010 as a marketplace where startups met angel investors, then "refocused entirely on venture infrastructure" after its talent business was spun off. AngelList's own November 2022 announcement says "AngelList Venture" became simply AngelList and "AngelList Talent" became Wellfound, now a separate hiring company.
Today the product menu reads like a fund back office: Fund Administration covers Venture Funds, Rolling Funds, Scout Funds, SPVs and Roll Up Vehicles, while Investor Management adds digital subscriptions and a data room. AngelList says its full-service offering gives access to 50+ services, among them legal, formation and compliance, valuation support and transaction review.
The SPV (syndicate) product lets a lead raise privately on a deal-by-deal basis and tap the AngelList Capital Network for LPs. Per angelinvestorsnetwork.com, the minimum LP check is $1,000 per deal and every investor in an SPV must be accredited.
AngelList's own claims: over $200B in assets on the platform (LinkedIn page) and more than half of all top-tier VC deals running through it (homepage).
AngelList Pricing in 2026
Published prices (per AngelList's funds site, annualized, as of October 2026):
| Plan | Best for | Annual cost | Investment cap |
|---|---|---|---|
| Venture Fund Base | Funds under $3M | 0.75% of fund size + $3.5k | 15 |
| Venture Fund Core | Funds $3M to $30M | 0.2% of fund size + $20k | Unlimited |
| Venture Fund Institutional | Funds over $30M | 0.15% of fund size + $35k | Unlimited |
| Quarterly fund Core | Funds taking LP money quarterly | 0.2% of fund size + $2.5k | Unlimited |
| Syndicate Standard (SPV) | Deal-by-deal raises | Not published in the pages we reviewed | Unlimited |
State regulatory fees are listed as variable (a $5k maximum on the quarterly fund, a $1.2k median on SPVs), and add-ons can change the price. Base is the only plan capped at 15 investments, venture Core adds a dedicated account manager, and Institutional includes every add-on. Each quarterly fund also has an upfront setup fee plus a fund services fee over 10 years.
Third-party estimates (not on AngelList's pages): a June 2026 explainer on angelinvestorsnetwork.com puts a standard AngelList SPV at an $8,000 flat setup fee plus a $2,000 state regulatory fee, with an $80,000 minimum raise; follow-on SPVs are $5,000 plus $2,000 with a $50,000 minimum. It adds that AngelList takes 5% carry on LPs who find and invest through its Meridian matching product, on top of the GP's carry. The site's September 2026 review says AngelList does not publish a complete pricing catalog, so setup fees come from third-party sources.
For a founder, the cost question is different: the pricing pages we reviewed list fund and SPV plans, not a plan for finding investors. Round Funded's plans start at $99/month as of October 2026.
What AngelList Does Well
- Full back office in one place. Formation, admin, filings, investor closings and tax sit with one provider. A testimonial on AngelList's own site says it helps "streamline our process, reduce errors, and keep costs low."
- SPVs and syndicates. Another testimonial on that page: "When it comes to SPVs, I can't really imagine what it would be like on another platform." Round Funded does not form SPVs or administer funds, so for this job AngelList wins outright.
- A plan sized for small funds. The Base plan targets funds under $3M and is described as "everything you need to start and manage your fund."
Where AngelList Falls Short
- Not built for founders looking for investors. A June 2026 explainer is blunt: AngelList "is not a marketplace where investors browse listings and founders post pitches."
- Accredited investors only in SPVs. Per angelinvestorsnetwork.com, every SPV investor must be accredited, which limits who can back a deal.
- Pricing is only partly published. We found no headline SPV fee on AngelList's own pages; the $8,000 figure comes from a third party. Fund plans also list variable add-ons and regulatory fees.
- A weak Trustpilot score, with caveats. Trustpilot shows 2 out of 5 across 22 reviews, but the profile is filed under angel.co and mixes in jobs-era and unrelated reviews, so it is a rough read on the investing product. One March 2026 reviewer cited slow distributions and poor communication.

Who Should Use AngelList
- Use AngelList if you are a GP forming a venture or rolling fund, a syndicate lead running SPVs, or a scout program operator who wants the back office handled.
- Use AngelList as an LP if you are accredited and want deal-by-deal access.
- Skip AngelList if you are a founder who needs a list of investors to pitch. Start with how to find investors and an investor database instead.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does AngelList cost?
AngelList's Venture Fund plans cost 0.75% of fund size + $3.5k a year for funds under $3M, 0.2% + $20k for $3M to $30M, and 0.15% + $35k above $30M, as of October 2026. A June 2026 third-party explainer estimates a standard SPV at $8,000 plus a $2,000 state fee.
Does AngelList have a free plan or free trial?
We found no free plan or free trial on AngelList's pricing pages as of October 2026; they route to Contact sales. Round Funded has no free tier either, but Round+ and Round Pro include a 3-day trial for first-time accounts, card required.
Is AngelList legit and worth it?
AngelList is an established company: founded in 2010, headquartered in San Francisco and described as fully operational in a September 2026 review. It suits fund managers and syndicate leads who want a full back office. Its Trustpilot TrustScore is 2 out of 5 across 22 reviews, though that profile includes jobs-era reviews, and one March 2026 reviewer cites slow distributions.
What is AngelList used for?
AngelList is used to run venture funds, rolling funds, scout funds and SPVs, and accredited investors use it to join syndicates deal by deal. It is not the tool for finding investors to pitch: start with Round Funded's free Investor Match.
Can founders raise a round on AngelList?
Not through a founder marketplace, according to a June 2026 explainer. AngelList does offer deal-by-deal SPVs, where a syndicate lead raises from accredited investors, so you still need to find and convince that lead first.
What is the best alternative to AngelList for VC fund administration?
On G2, Qapita is named the best overall alternative to AngelList Fund Administration, rated about 4.6. Carta Equity Suite (about 4.3), Juniper Square (about 4.7) and Affinity (about 4.4) also appear. Round Funded is not a fund administrator.
Is AngelList the same as Wellfound?
No. AngelList announced in November 2022 that AngelList Talent, the jobs side, was now Wellfound and that the two companies would be formally separated.
Is Round Funded affiliated with AngelList?
No. Round Funded is not affiliated with AngelList or Wellfound. This comparison draws on AngelList's funds pages, its November 2022 announcement and LinkedIn page, plus G2, Trustpilot and angelinvestorsnetwork.com, with facts as of October 2026.
Final Word
AngelList is the right fit for running funds and syndicates. If you are a founder looking for investors to pitch, you need a database and outreach instead.
