PitchBook Pricing: How Much Does PitchBook Cost in 2026?
PitchBook sells private-market data to investors, banks and corporates and publishes no prices. As of October 2026, LPbacked's third-party estimate puts one seat at about $20,000 to $30,000 a year on annual contracts; Prospeo's undated page reports licenses from around $12,000. Founders get free investor matches on Round Funded; Round+ ($99/month) unlocks search across 60,000+ investors and Gmail outreach.
One founder on r/startups, as cited by Prospeo, could not justify about $20,000 for one-off fundraising list building.

What PitchBook Is and How It Works
PitchBook sells private capital market intelligence: data on companies, investors, funds, deals and people, plus tools to analyze market activity. John Gabbert founded it in 2007 as a database for private equity intelligence, and Morningstar has fully owned it since 2016 (third-party reports). PitchBook says it serves more than 100,000 clients.
A subscription includes the desktop platform, the PitchBook Mobile app, Excel and PowerPoint plugins and a Chrome extension at no extra charge, per PitchBook's pricing page.
In November 2025 PitchBook announced Navigator, a plain-language chat assistant, plus access to its data through ChatGPT. February 2026 brought Valuation Estimates, which PitchBook calls the first daily valuation model for VC-backed companies. On October 14, 2026 it launched an agentic assistant and PitchBook Data MCP, which feeds its data into investors' own systems and AI agents.
Per LPbacked, one seat covers company, deal, investor and fund profiles, search and Excel export within limits; banks, PE and VC firms, corporates and smaller investors are each quoted differently. TrustRadius says 49% of recent reviewers praise its company and deal data.
PitchBook Pricing in 2026
PitchBook publishes no price list. Its pricing page asks you to talk to a representative, and LPbacked says each contract is quoted by seats, data modules and firm type. Prospeo adds that you see a number only after requesting a trial, hearing from an SDR and sitting through a sales call.
Reported figures as of October 2026, all third-party estimates from vendors that promote their own data products (LPbacked's dated October 2026, Prospeo's undated):
| Contract | Reported cost per year | Source |
|---|---|---|
| 1 seat (core platform) | About $20,000 to $30,000 | LPbacked, October 2026 |
| 1 seat | About $12,000 to $20,000 | Prospeo |
| 2 to 5 seats | About $30,000 to $50,000 | LPbacked |
| Large teams (LPbacked) or 10 seats (Prospeo) | About $70,000 or more | LPbacked, Prospeo |
| Add-ons: data feeds, API, extra modules, higher export limits | Quoted separately; Multiples says it is sold as one license without add-ons | LPbacked, Multiples |
Plan names are disputed. Prospeo lists Sole Practitioner, Standard and Enterprise tiers plus API access, while LPbacked says there are no fixed plans and PitchBook's pricing page names none.
Contracts are annual. LPbacked and Prospeo report no monthly option; a 2024 LeadLoft review mentions monthly payments on an annual commitment. Per LPbacked, multi-year terms often earn a discount and buyers frequently report increases at renewal; Prospeo cites a $25,000 quote cut to $20,000 for a two-year term. None of these sources mention a startup or founder discount.
What PitchBook Does Well
G2 reviewers rate PitchBook 4.5 out of 5, and Capterra shows 4.4 out of 5 across 38 reviews.
- Depth of data. PitchBook's deal, valuation and fund data is far deeper than Round Funded's: Round Funded has no valuation estimates for private companies and shows round valuations only for well-known startups.
- Valuations. Valuation Estimates values thousands of VC-backed companies daily with machine learning, per PitchBook.
- Access and support. G2's November 2025 review summary praises data accessibility (64 mentions) and customer support (45 mentions).
Where PitchBook Falls Short
- Price. "Expensive" is a recurring complaint in G2's November 2025 review summary (20 mentions), especially for smaller organizations. Capterra reviewers score value for money 3.7 out of 5, and Prospeo sums up r/venturecapital: an excellent platform with pricing that feels punitive for smaller firms.
- Data freshness. Outdated information was the top con in G2's November 2025 summary (36 mentions). TrustRadius says 25% of its recent reviewers (53 reviews from the last 18 months) raise accuracy and completeness concerns. Another TrustRadius summary, of 31 reviews, singles out valuations and smaller firms. PitchBook's Capterra profile says data is updated within hours of announcement.
- Export limits. LPbacked says Excel export comes "within limits". Prospeo, a competing data vendor, claims a cap of 25 downloads a month, which is unconfirmed.
- No outreach. A 2024 review by LeadLoft, which sells its own investor database and outreach tools, found no built-in outreach tools, a claim unconfirmed for 2026.

Best PitchBook Alternatives in 2026
Round Funded comes first for founders reaching investors, then the PitchBook competitors named in third-party comparisons. Investor-finding tools such as OpenVC and AngelMatch have their own pages. Prices are as of October 2026; all except Round Funded's come from third-party pages, and Prospeo's figures are undated.
Round Funded
A PitchBook seat gives you profiles to research; Round Funded covers the outreach. Search 60,000+ active VCs, angels, family offices and accelerators, filtered to a check in the last 6 months, then email them from your own Gmail. Replies are tracked in a built-in pipeline, and you can share a free Data Room, with a tracked link per investor on paid plans.
An MCP server lets Claude or Cursor search investors and draft emails, never send them. It is not a valuation or financial data product.
Crunchbase
Prospeo calls Crunchbase the most accessible alternative for startup and company research, at $29 per user per month (Starter) or $49 (Pro). LPbacked reports $49 to $99 a month.
CB Insights
CB Insights covers market intelligence and trend analysis, per Prospeo; Multiples notes it does not publish prices.
S&P Capital IQ
S&P Capital IQ covers financial data for teams in the S&P ecosystem, per Prospeo. G2 names S&P Capital IQ Pro its best overall PitchBook alternative.
Preqin
Preqin specializes in LP and fund data and suits fund benchmarking, per Prospeo.
Dealroom
Dealroom covers startup data and is best for European markets, per Prospeo.

Who Should Use PitchBook
- Use PitchBook if your work depends on valuations, deal history and fund data and your firm can sign an annual five-figure contract.
- Use Round Funded if you need investors active in the last 6 months, not a five-figure research seat, and a way to email them from your own Gmail. The free Investor Match tool returns your 10 best-fit active investors.
- Use Crunchbase if you want startup and company research at a fraction of PitchBook's cost: from $29 per user per month, per Prospeo, as of October 2026.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does PitchBook cost per year?
As of October 2026, one PitchBook seat costs about $20,000 to $30,000 a year, per LPbacked's estimate; Prospeo reports licenses from around $12,000. Per LPbacked, two to five seats cost about $30,000 to $50,000 a year and larger teams $70,000 or more; Prospeo lists lower figures for two or three seats (about $18,000 to $25,000). All are third-party estimates, because PitchBook quotes every contract individually; Prospeo's page is undated.
Does PitchBook offer a free trial or a free plan?
There is no free plan, but PitchBook offers a free trial by application. Its pricing page asks you to fill out a form so it can "see if a free trial might be right for you". A trial is not guaranteed, and its length is not stated. Some universities give students access through their libraries.
Is PitchBook legit, and is it worth it for founders?
PitchBook is legitimate and established, rated 4.5 out of 5 on G2, but it is hard to justify for a founder who only needs an investor list. Some G2 reviewers (20 mentions in G2's November 2025 review summary) call it expensive, especially for smaller organizations, and none of the pricing sources mention a startup or founder discount. Round Funded's Find Investors tool is built for that job.
What is PitchBook used for?
PitchBook is used to research private markets: companies, investors, funds, deals, people and valuations. One TrustRadius reviewer uses it for market research and investor screenings for early-stage startups. LeadLoft's 2024 review says it can also help founders research potential funding sources, but found no built-in outreach.
What are the best PitchBook alternatives and competitors?
Third-party comparisons name Crunchbase, CB Insights, S&P Capital IQ, Preqin and Dealroom. As of October 2026, Crunchbase is the cheapest reported option: $29 per user per month per Prospeo (undated), or $49 to $99 a month per LPbacked. Founders who need to reach investors rather than study markets can use Round Funded; see the investor database comparison.
Is Round Funded affiliated with PitchBook?
No. Round Funded is not affiliated with PitchBook or Morningstar. This independent comparison, researched in October 2026, draws on PitchBook's public pages and third-party sources (LPbacked, Prospeo, LeadLoft, Multiples, G2, Capterra, TrustRadius) dated 2024 to October 2026, some undated.
Final Word
PitchBook is the right tool for investors and bankers who live in private-market data: valuations, deal history and fund data. A founder gets an individually quoted annual contract, and no pricing source mentions a startup discount. The raise needs active investors and a way to reach them.
