Crunchbase Pricing: How Much Does Crunchbase Cost in 2026?
Crunchbase is a funding database of private companies. As of October 2026, third-party readings of its pricing page show Pro at $99 a month, or $49 a month billed annually for new users in year one ($588), and Business from $199 a month billed annually. Founders who need investors, not research, can start with free investor matches on Round Funded.

What Crunchbase Is and How It Works
The core of Crunchbase is the profile. Reviewers describe company pages with funding history, leadership changes and firmographics. Crunchbase's own profile calls it "a predictive private company intelligence solution, powered by live company data, AI, and market activity".
Profiles carry a Growth Score, a Heat Score and a CB Rank, plus a growth prediction section. You find companies through search, the homepage and a discovery tool called Crunchbase Scout, then follow them with saved searches, lists and alerts.
On 6 October 2026 Crunchbase launched Crunchbase AI. A press release of that date says AI agents can act on financials, firmographics, insights and predictions through the Crunchbase MCP, and states that Crunchbase offers 148% more global seed-stage coverage than the nearest competitor (unverified).
Reviewers use it for startup competition research and VC target lists.
Crunchbase Pricing in 2026
Crunchbase sells seats and export rows, not credits (LeadOcean). These are third-party readings of its pricing page; confirm before you buy.
Reported by third parties (mostly August to October 2026; G2's page updated 8 April 2026):
- Free account: $0 with usage limits, per Katteb, Articuler and SaaSTracker; Katteb says exports and full profiles are paid. G2's FAQ says there is only a trial, though elsewhere the same page mentions a limited free tier.
- Crunchbase Pro: $99 per user a month billed monthly, or $49 a month billed annually for new users in the first year ($588). Articuler reports a $79 per seat a month annual list price, and Market Intelligence Tools a 38% new-user discount in year one. Pro advertises search across 6M+ private companies, full funding and financial data on unlimited profiles, and exports of up to 2,000 results a month.
- Crunchbase Business: from $199 a month billed annually; LeadOcean reports this as per user, $2,388 a year, with the monthly price on request. G2 says it adds CRM integrations, 5,000 monthly exports, SSO and contact access.
- API and Custom Data Access: quote only. Katteb found no per-call or per-month API price published on 13 October 2026. MCP access for AI assistants is bought separately and needs a Business seat per user, per Articuler.
Conflicting figures (treat with care): Capterra (page updated 29 September 2026) lists a starting price of $29 per user a month, and FundedIQ's FAQ reports a "Starter" tier at about $29. None of the 2026 readings of Crunchbase's pricing page shows that tier, so do not plan around it.
What Crunchbase Does Well
- Breadth. Crunchbase advertises search across 6M+ private companies; Round Funded covers 60,000+ investors and cannot match that for competitor research.
- Funding history in one place. A G2 reviewer sums it up as "a single, reliable source for firmographic data, funding history, leadership changes, and growth signals." G2 showed 4.4/5 across 413 reviews in a December 2025 snapshot.
- VC list building for later rounds. One Capterra reviewer (May 2024) called its VC data "unparalleled" for identifying series-round targets, citing lists built with specifications such as AUM.
- Price against other data vendors. G2's review summary says many reviewers call Crunchbase significantly more affordable than PitchBook, ZoomInfo and CB Insights, especially for startups.
Where Crunchbase Falls Short
- Data on young companies. G2's review summary notes that some users find accuracy "can be inconsistent, particularly for smaller or newer companies." That matters for pre-seed and seed peers.
- Outdated contacts. One G2 reviewer wrote that "some emails or titles are outdated, which hurts our outreach efficiency."
- The free tier. A G2 reviewer: "The free version is quite limited. Many useful filters and data points are locked, which restricts proper research unless you upgrade."
- Price jump and exports. One G2 reviewer finds the pricing hard to justify for smaller teams when export limits and feature tiers restrict daily use. A Capterra reviewer calls the jump from free to paid "fairly substantial" and wants a lower tier for early-stage startups.
- Usability. G2's summary lists ease of use among the top praise, yet one reviewer found the UI dense for new users and another review called the AI search inaccurate. Capterra showed 4.2/5 across 18 reviews (29 September 2026), 3.9 for value for money.
Crunchbase vs Round Funded
| Crunchbase | Round Funded | |
|---|---|---|
| Main job | Research companies, rounds and investors | Find active investors and reach them |
| Coverage | 6M+ private companies (Crunchbase's claim) | 60,000+ VCs, angels, family offices and accelerators |
| Investor data | Investor profiles and VC lists (AUM filters, per a Capterra reviewer) | Active investors only: a check in the last 6 months |
| Outreach | No email sending listed; CRM integrations on Business (G2) | AI-drafted emails sent from your own Gmail |
| Pipeline | Saved searches, lists and alerts | Built-in investor CRM pipeline |
| Entry price (as of October 2026) | Pro $99/month, or $49/month annually for new users in year one | Round+ $99/month, 3-day free trial for first-time accounts |
| Free option | Limited free account (sources differ), plus a Pro trial | No free tier; free tools such as Investor Match |
| AI agents | MCP, bought separately with a Business seat (Articuler) | MCP server on paid plans |
Crunchbase wins when the job is research: mapping a market, checking a competitor's investors, or watching funding rounds across millions of companies. Round Funded cannot match that breadth, and its export allowance is smaller (500 CSV exports a month on Round+, against up to 2,000 results on Pro).
At the same $99 a month, the two buy different things. Pro buys research across 6M+ private companies. Round+ is 60,000+ active investors you can email from your own Gmail, up to 1,000 a month, tracked in a fundraising pipeline of up to 2,500, next to a Data Room with per-investor tracked links.

Who Should Use Crunchbase
- Use Crunchbase if you research markets and competitors often, need funding history across millions of companies, or want to follow funding news at companies you track.
- Skip it as your main fundraising tool if you need a short list of investors writing checks now and a way to email them. That is where Round Funded's investor search fits.

Katteb says exports and full profiles are paid. For free investor matches instead, try Round Funded's Find Investors tool.
Is Crunchbase legit, and is Crunchbase Pro worth it?
Crunchbase is an established company, founded in 2007 per LinkedIn and CB Insights, and G2 showed 4.4/5 across 413 reviews in a December 2025 snapshot. Whether Pro is worth it depends on use: G2's review summary suggests it pays off mainly for frequent, data-intensive users, while one G2 reviewer found the price hard to justify for smaller teams.
What is Crunchbase used for?
Crunchbase is used to research private companies, funding rounds and investors. Reviewers describe startup competition research, VC target lists and sales prospecting. It offers saved searches, alerts, exports, an API and an MCP server for AI agents.
Who are Crunchbase's competitors?
G2 reviewers compare Crunchbase with PitchBook, ZoomInfo and CB Insights on price, and Value Add VC presents itself as a free alternative. To reach investors rather than research them, Round Funded combines an investor database with Gmail outreach and a pipeline. See our guide to investor database tools.

Sending is not among the features third-party sources list for Crunchbase. G2 lists CRM integrations and contact access under Business, and one G2 reviewer noted that some emails and titles are outdated. Round Funded drafts emails with AI and sends them from your own Gmail, starting at $99 a month on Round+.
Is Round Funded affiliated with Crunchbase?

Final Word
Crunchbase is the stronger research tool: it advertises search across 6M+ private companies, with funding data and alerts. Once you know who you want to raise from, you need active investors, outreach and a pipeline in one place, and that is the job Round Funded is built for.
