What Union54 does

What is your company going to make? Please describe your product and what it does or will do.

We build ChitChat, a combined messaging app and payments wallet designed for Africa. It lets users send instant messages alongside making USD card payments and cross-border transfers. Our product targets the high fees and friction Africans face sending money internationally, especially small amounts, by integrating communication and payments in one app.

Where do you live now, and where would the company be based after YC?

We live in Lusaka, Zambia, and our company is based there with a remote team.

Explain your decision regarding location.

We chose Lusaka because the financial challenges we solve are local to Africa, and we want to stay close to the users and markets we know best. Our founding team is local, and we coordinate remotely as needed.
