What Twolabs does

Building socially intelligent robots for caregiving, to assist the elderly. Our semi-humanoids go into nursing homes, senior living communities, and care facilities to support elderly residents, handling everyday tasks like feeding, dressing, medication, and object retrieval, while providing genuine social and emotional companionship. We build the full stack in-house: the robot hardware and all the AI that makes it socially capable, so one caregiver can do more for more residents in a field facing chronic staffing shortages. While the rest of robotics is working on object manipulation like moving boxes and folding laundry, we're focused on what we think is the most meaningful problem: how people and robots can work together.

Humanoid robots for caregiving

What is your company going to make? Please describe your product and what it does or will do.

We build semi-humanoid robots designed to assist elderly people in nursing homes and care facilities. Our robots handle everyday tasks like feeding, dressing, giving medication, and fetching objects. They also provide emotional and social companionship. We build the full stack ourselves: the hardware and the AI that lets the robot understand and interact socially, enabling a single caregiver to support more residents amid a severe staffing shortage.

Where do you live now, and where would the company be based after YC?

We live in San Francisco, CA and will base the company here after YC.

Explain your decision regarding location.

San Francisco is home to the robotics and AI talent we need. It's also where most early pilot customers and investors are located. YC is here, so it's the natural place for us to grow Twolabs.
