What farmtheory does

Farmtheory is a B2B agri-tech startup. We are bridging the gap between buyers and sellers of ugly produce by creating a farm-to-fork value chain. Ugly produce is freshly harvested fruitage that is cosmetically unappealing, hence left unsold at farms.

What is your company going to make? Please describe your product and what it does or will do.

We built a marketplace that connects farmers' ugly produce - fresh fruit and vegetables that don't meet cosmetic standards but are perfectly edible - with restaurants. It removes waste at the farm level and streamlines supply directly to chefs, cutting out middlemen and inefficiencies in the supply chain.

Where do you live now, and where would the company be based after YC?

We live in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, and the company is based here. We would continue to operate from Bengaluru after YC.

Explain your decision regarding location.

Bengaluru is where our main operations and users are. The city has a thriving restaurant industry and local farms nearby. Staying here keeps us close to both our supply and demand side and lets us control quality and logistics.
