What Wasmer does

We are working on the software that will power the next generation of Cloud Computing (Edge Computing) platforms using WebAssembly. You can see us as a mix between Docker (but 100x more performant in startup time, and with 100x more lightweight containers), npm (we released the first WebAssembly package manager: wapm.io) and the JVM (but more universal).

We build Wasmer, a lightweight runtime and package manager for WebAssembly. It lets developers ship code that runs everywhere at the speed of native apps but with startup times 100x faster than Docker containers. We're focused on making it easy to build and deploy software at the edge, where current cloud tools are too heavy and slow.

Where do you live now, and where would the company be based after YC?

We live in San Francisco and operate remotely. The company will remain based in San Francisco after YC.

Explain your decision regarding location.

San Francisco is where we can best connect to engineers, cloud providers, and early enterprise customers who want to use edge computing solutions.
