What SkyLights does

Skylights is a wearable immersive cinematic entertainment for captive audiences. SkyLights started in the planes, as passenger inflight entertainment. SkyLights enables patients and passengers to tune out of their environment and escape by enjoying premium cinematic entertainment using VR headsets. Skylights integrates content licensing deals, secure software, headset hardware, and operations. All four are sold as a subscription service. Skylights is now developing in BtoC. The company is incorporated in the US.

What is your company going to make? Please describe your product and what it does or will do.

We make a wearable VR entertainment system designed mainly for passengers on planes and patients in hospitals. Our product lets users escape their environment by watching premium cinematic content. We integrate licensed movies, custom secure software, proprietary headsets, and operations support into a subscription service. We're starting with B2B, mainly airlines, and moving toward direct consumer sales.

Where do you live now, and where would the company be based after YC?

We live in San Jose, CA, and the company would remain based here after YC.

Explain your decision regarding location.

We are based in San Jose because it is where the team is and where the VR and hardware ecosystem is active. It's best for product development, partnerships, and hiring.
