What Picwing does

Picwing is a photo sharing platform that enables users to share their photos through a variety of sources. Picwing offers a convenient printing service where their users can send photos through email using a camera or computer. These photos are printed and mailed to one or more recipients every 2 weeks. Picwing also provides digital photo frames built upon a Linux kernel. Users can send an image from their desktop or phone, and within 20-30 seconds see it on a digital frame. The frames are mini Linux machines that the founders hope will eventually be able to support much more than image sharing.

What is your company going to make? Please describe your product and what it does or will do.

We built Picwing to let families easily share photos through email and digital frames. Users send photos by email or from their phone or computer, and we print those photos and mail physical copies every two weeks. We also build Linux-based digital photo frames that update images sent to them within 20-30 seconds, allowing families to share moments instantly in physical spaces. Our frames are designed to eventually do more than just display images.

Where do you live now, and where would the company be based after YC?

We live in San Francisco, CA, and plan to keep the company based here after YC.

Explain your decision regarding location.

San Francisco is where the tech community and hardware suppliers are concentrated, making it the best place to build photo sharing hardware and software together.
