What Numida does

Numida provides working capital loans to African micro businesses. Instead of borrowing from informal lenders or family, micro business owners download the Numida app, apply in minutes, and receive capital within a day. We have figured out how to score and disburse unsecured loans to cash-based businesses that have no digital transaction history, while maintaining excellent collection rates. Since 2021 we have provided $23M in working capital to 32,000 businesses in East Africa.

What is your company going to make? Please describe your product and what it does or will do.

We make a mobile app that allows micro business owners in East Africa to apply for and receive unsecured working capital loans within a day. We score cash-based businesses without digital transaction histories and disburse loans quickly while maintaining high repayment rates.

Where do you live now, and where would the company be based after YC?

We live and work in Kampala, Uganda. The company would remain based there after YC.

Explain your decision regarding location.

Our core market and most users are in East Africa, specifically Uganda. Staying in Kampala keeps us close to the customers and partners we serve.
