What Miden does

Miden is building a modern infrastructure that facilitates the launch of card programs and various financial products for businesses in Sub-Sahran Africa. Just by reducing integration time, card fraud, improving stability, and being customer focused we quickly rose to top 5 in TPV among card issuing Fintechs in Sub-Saharan Africa within 8 months of launch. We’re going to build the first comprehensive fintech and banking software stack for Africa, based on modern technology. We’re starting with a card issuer-processor.

What is your company going to make? Please describe your product and what it does or will do.

We're building a card issuer-processor and banking stack that lets businesses in Sub-Saharan Africa launch card programs and other financial products quickly. Our API reduces integration time, cuts down on card fraud, and improves stability compared to existing options. Over time, we'll expand to a full fintech and banking software stack tailored for Africa's specific market challenges.

Where do you live now, and where would the company be based after YC?

We live and work in Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria, and after YC the company will remain based here to stay close to our customers and the market we serve.

Explain your decision regarding location.

We focus on Sub-Saharan Africa because the fintech stack here is fragmented and outdated. Building locally gives us direct insight into the challenges and needs of businesses launching card programs in this region.
