What Listia does

Listia is a new kind of auction marketplace for giving and getting free stuff. Users list items as auctions, and other users bid on these items using credits instead of money. Credits are earned by signing up, giving away stuff, and being an active member.

Mobile marketplace for trading used goods

What is your company going to make? Please describe your product and what it does or will do.

We built Listia, a marketplace where people list used stuff they want to give away as auctions. Instead of money, users bid and pay with credits earned by giving away items or participating actively. It's a way to trade goods without cash, making it easy to clear clutter and get things people want.

Where do you live now, and where would the company be based after YC?

Our team is distributed between Santa Clara, Campbell, and remote locations in California. After YC, we plan to base the company in Silicon Valley to stay close to talent and investors.

Explain your decision regarding location.

We live and work where we are because that's where we started and have the connections to early users. Being in Silicon Valley post-YC lets us tap the local startup ecosystem and grow faster.
