Company
Omoi (formerly Azuki)
Japanese comic subscription service
We built Omoi as a subscription service that gives users unlimited access to Japanese comics (manga) for $4.99/month. We also offer a free tier with selected chapters that include ads. Basically, it's Netflix for manga targeted at fans who want affordable, easy access to a large catalog without the friction of buying individual volumes or hunting for scans online.
We are based in San Francisco, CA, with a remote team distributed across locations. After YC, the company will continue to be based in SF with remote operations.
We chose San Francisco because it puts us close to talent, customers, and investors. A remote setup lets us use the right people regardless of location while maintaining access to the startup ecosystem.
