dev/color is a non-profit organization that aims to maximize the impact of Black software engineers. Our mission is to provide Black engineers with the connections and skills needed to start and stay in the industry, and advance into leadership roles. We’re a community for software engineers, by software engineers. We work with members throughout their careers, from college to industry, through mentorship, goal setting and events.

What is your company going to make? Please describe your product and what it does or will do.

We run a nonprofit community platform that connects Black software engineers across career stages. We provide mentorship, goal-setting tools, and events focused on helping members start and grow in tech and reach leadership roles. It's a place built by developers for developers, focused specifically on the challenges our members face.

Where do you live now, and where would the company be based after YC?

We live in San Francisco and the company is based here.

Explain your decision regarding location.

San Francisco is where much of the tech industry lives and where our members and community are concentrated. It makes it easier to connect with industry leaders and run in-person events.
