What Okani does

Okani is a low-cost wellness membership for the 50M Mexicans that spend 25B on healthcare out of pocket. We become patients' first point of contact with the healthcare system by providing digital primary care through chat and an app, then orchestrate the delivery of secondary healthcare with physicians, labs, pharmacies and clinics. We're founded by a team of 3 engineers and a doctor with a masters in clinical care. Pepe previously sold a startup to Cabify and ran engineering with Romario for Nubank's first international market.

We make a low-cost wellness membership app focused on Mexico's 50 million people who spend heavily out of pocket on healthcare. Our app is the first point of contact, providing digital primary care through chat and follow-up features. We then coordinate care with physicians, labs, pharmacies, and clinics for secondary needs.

Where do you live now, and where would the company be based after YC?

We live and are based in Mexico City, CDMX, Mexico. The company is remote but centered here and would stay in Mexico City after YC.

Explain your decision regarding location.

Mexico City is where the largest underserved healthcare market we target lives and where our team is based. Being local lets us understand the pain points deeply and build trust with users and providers in Latam.
