What Lantern does

Lantern is the easiest way to build AI applications using Postgres. We started Lantern because we believe AI is going to impact every single enterprise in every single industry. We want to allow every company to tap into their unstructured data to build better applications. With Lantern Cloud, developers have access to everything they need to build an AI application: embedding generation, vector compression, vector search, efficient indexing, and more. Lantern is a Postgres extension that adds vector database capabilities to build AI applications. It handles embedding generation, vector compression, vector search, and indexing inside Postgres. Lantern Cloud gives developers a platform that scales to billions of vectors, all within the database they already use.

Where do you live now, and where would the company be based after YC?

We currently live in San Francisco, and we plan to keep the company based here after YC.

Explain your decision regarding location.

We live in San Francisco, which has a strong technical talent pool and access to early enterprise users interested in AI. Being here helps us stay close to our network and potential partners.
