What Helium Health does

Helium Health provides a suite of digital health tools for healthcare providers, payers and patients across Africa - most prominent of which is our maiden electronic medical records (EMR) & hospital management information system (HMIS) for emerging markets, HeliumOS. We offer business loans to healthcare providers through our HeliumCredit product. We also work with donors and governments in executing public health strategies. Finally, we have built the largest healthcare data repository on Africans with over 1 million health records.

What is your company going to make? Please describe your product and what it does or will do.

We build digital tools for healthcare providers, payers, and patients in Africa. Our main product, HeliumOS, is an electronic medical records and hospital management system designed for emerging markets. We also offer business loans to healthcare providers through HeliumCredit, and we work with governments and donors to run public health programs.

Where do you live now, and where would the company be based after YC?

We live and work between Los Angeles and Nigeria. After YC, we plan to base the company primarily in Nigeria to stay close to our customers and market.

Explain your decision regarding location.

Our customers are hospitals and clinics in Africa, so we need to be where healthcare happens on the continent. Having a presence in Nigeria gives us direct insight into the challenges and opportunities of that market while also allowing us to engage global partners from LA.
