What GovGuard does

GovGuard is building AI agents that automate government workflows, starting with FOIA requests. Today, public records teams still spend hours searching for responsive records and applying redactions. Many offices still redact sensitive information line by line with a sharpie. Local governments spend billions processing these requests, and if a city misses a legal deadline, it can be sued for failing to comply with public records law.

We're building AI agents that automate parts of government workflows, beginning with Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. Our software helps public records teams find responsive documents and apply redactions faster, replacing manual, time-consuming processes where some offices still redact line-by-line by hand.

Where do you live now, and where would the company be based after YC?

We live in San Francisco and plan to keep the company based here after YC.
