What Floobits does

Floobits lets you use native text editors to collaborate on code in real-time. Floobits has 7,000 users signed up with eight hours a day on average per usage. The two co-founders Matt Kaniaris and Geoff Greer used to pair program together while at Rackspace, and after leaving, they realized that they wanted to build something that could help others do the same. The service offers freemium pricing, where free accounts have up to five workspaces available. But to work privately, a paid account starting at $15 per month is required.

Floobits lets developers and designers collaborate on code in real-time using their favorite native text editors. Instead of forcing people into new tools, we enable live, shared editing sessions through the browser infrastructure, supporting workflows like pair programming even when remote.

We live in San Francisco, CA, and if accepted, the company will be based here as well.

Explain your decision regarding location.

San Francisco is where we live and where engineering and early adopter communities for collaboration tools are concentrated. It also makes it easier to connect with YC and potential users.
