What Bikanta does

Bikanta is introducing revolutionary nanodiamond-based technology to push the boundaries of current medical imaging and diagnostics, allowing researchers to answer questions and medics to detect diseases that they currently cannot. A nanodiamond is forever. They are brightly fluorescent, infinitely stable, non-toxic, functionalizable and can be used for background-free optical imaging. Early results have improved the signal by as much as 100-fold over conventional fluorescence imaging techniques. Bikanta’s vision is to redefine the boundaries of medical diagnostics by delivering cutting-edge imaging probes and background-free optical imaging.

Nano-diamonds for cancer detection

What is your company going to make? Please describe your product and what it does or will do.

We make nanodiamond-based imaging probes that fluoresce without background noise, allowing researchers and doctors to detect cancer and other diseases earlier and more accurately than current fluorescence imaging methods. Our product improves signal strength and stability, enabling conditions doctors can't currently detect optically.

Where do you live now, and where would the company be based after YC?

We live and work in Berkeley, CA, and would continue to base the company here after YC.

Explain your decision regarding location.

We are already located near leading research universities and medical institutions in Berkeley, which gives us direct access to collaborators and early adopters in medical imaging and diagnostics.
