He is a Trustee of the Brookings Institution, a director of both the New America Foundation and the U.S.-Russia Business Council, and a member of the Russian Academy of Oil and Gas. Dr. Yergin is on the advisory boards of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Energy Initiative and the Institute for 21st Century Energy. He is also on Singapore's International Energy Advisory Board and the Yale Center for Energy and Climate Advisory Board. In 2011, the Alliance to Save Energy honored him as the "Star of Energy Efficiency". Dr. Yergin received his B.A. from Yale University and his Ph.D. from Cambridge University, where he was a Marshall Scholar.
