We built LanceDB, an open-source vector database that handles low-latency billion-scale vector search on a single node. It's built on a novel columnar data format that makes it straightforward to build generative AI apps, recommendation systems, search engines, and content moderation pipelines. It's designed for production scale without the complexity of distributed systems.
We are based in San Francisco, CA, and the company will remain there after YC.
San Francisco is where our engineering talent and early users are. Being here keeps us close to the AI and data infrastructure community we serve and where we can recruit the engineers we need.
