We built Basement as a social network focused on close friends rather than broadcasting to everyone. It lets users share moments, chat, and stay connected in a smaller, more private group, avoiding the noise and performative nature of larger platforms.

Where do you live now, and where would the company be based after YC?

We live in New York, NY, and the company is based here as well.

Explain your decision regarding location.

We chose to stay in New York because the density and diversity of our network here help us better understand close-knit social dynamics, which is central to Basement.
