Upon implantation, this tissue will supplement the patient's renal function, eliminating their dependency on dialysis and improving their disease status. This has the potential to not only get these patients off dialysis - a significant impact for them and their families - but to greatly extend the time required before kidney transplantation is essential.

What is your company going to make? Please describe your product and what it does or will do.

We are building an implantable tissue that supplements kidney function for patients with end stage renal disease. Once implanted, it reduces or eliminates their need for dialysis and delays the time until transplantation is necessary.

Where do you live now, and where would the company be based after YC?

We currently live in San Diego, CA. After YC, we plan to keep the company based here to maintain close ties to our research partners and clinical collaborators.

Explain your decision regarding location.

San Diego is a biotech hub with strong academic and clinical resources. Being here lets us work closely with surgeons and researchers to develop an implantable kidney tissue tailored for patients.
