Powered by our spacecraft OS, Basalt provides a seamless experience, enabling users to fly and stream data from their own tailored satellite constellation from an app on their phones or laptops. The company is founded by Max Bhatti and Alex Choi, lead engineers at the MIT CubeSat program. Previously, the duo worked as systems engineers at SpaceX, and the UK Ministry of Defense. Basalt Tech recently received its seed investment as part of the Y Combinator W24 batch, and is currently in technical development.

We are building self-flying satellite constellations that enterprise customers can control and stream data from via a simple app. Our spacecraft OS handles the complexity of space systems so customers don't need aerospace expertise to own and operate satellites tailored to their needs.

Where do you live now, and where would the company be based after YC?

We currently live and work in San Francisco, CA, and Basalt will remain based there after YC.

Explain your decision regarding location.

San Francisco is where our team is rooted, and it's the aerospace and software hub with access to talent and potential enterprise customers. Staying here lets us move fast and connect with the ecosystem that matters.
