We believe that scientists should spend their time on results interpretation rather than repetitive tissue cutting. How does it work? HistoWiz accepts formalin-fixed specimens by mail for tissue processing services. To expedite delivery of results and to facilitate global collaboration, HistoWiz offers whole-slide imaging and pathology services, allowing researchers to remotely and instantly view high-magnification images of their specimens via a secure, cloud-based “virtual microscope” on any computer or mobile device without downloading any software or gigabyte-sized files.

Accelerating Histopathology for Cancer Research

What is your company going to make? Please describe your product and what it does or will do.

We built a platform that accepts formalin-fixed tissue specimens by mail, processes them for experimental pathology, and provides researchers with secure, cloud-based whole-slide digital images. Our product lets scientists view and collaborate on high-resolution pathology data remotely, speeding up cancer research by cutting down time spent on manual tissue cutting and image sharing.

Where do you live now, and where would the company be based after YC?

We live and work in Brooklyn, NY. After YC, we'll keep the company based here.

Explain your decision regarding location.

Brooklyn has an emerging biotech scene and access to strong research institutions nearby. It's where we live and built our network, so it makes sense to operate from here.
