Flutter is recreating the magic of seeing someone in real-life for the first time, on your phone. Flutter lets you record short, ephemeral videos to express yourself and capture the attention of potential matches nearby. Users browse through nearby videos and, just like Tinder, like or pass on each one before moving on to the next. Here’s the catch: to actually match with someone, you have to be on the app at the same time and look into each other’s eyes for 15 seconds to see if there’s a spark. We help users play this game by sending push notifications when people they like are online. Video is so powerful. We've seen this with YouTube, Snapchat, Meerkat. And 15 seconds of live, two-way video can tell you so much more about a person than hand-picked photos and bios.

What is your company going to make? Please describe your product and what it does or will do.

Flutter is a mobile app that lets people record short video clips to express themselves and browse nearby videos to find potential matches. The key feature is a live video interaction where both users must look into each other's eyes for 15 seconds simultaneously to match. We send push notifications to help users meet at the same time and create real, live connections rather than relying on photos and static profiles.

Where do you live now, and where would the company be based after YC?

We live in Santa Monica, CA, and plan to base the company here after YC.

Explain your decision regarding location.

We built the product here and are connected to the tech and dating scenes in LA. It's also where we can find early users nearby and work closely as a small team.
