Genetically engineered probiotics

What is your company going to make? Please describe your product and what it does or will do.

We bioengineer probiotic bacteria that break down toxins from alcohol metabolism. Our first product helps people reduce hangover symptoms by breaking down acetaldehyde, a toxic byproduct. We're also developing new strains targeting other health issues using synthetic biology.

Where do you live now, and where would the company be based after YC?

We are based in San Francisco, CA now and would remain here after YC.

Explain your decision regarding location.

San Francisco has the biotech startup ecosystem and access to talent we need. Staying here lets us keep close to our lab and team.
