What Truora does

Truora provides safe and reliable background checks and fraud prevention services for Latin America, through APIs and web service solutions. We operate in 6 countries (Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Costa Rica, Brazil and Chile) and are expanding rapidly. Our customers include Latam's top martketplaces (i.e. Didi, Rappi, Liftit), FinTech startups, large financial institutions and large HR firms as well. Our software allows for: background check verifications, continuous identity verification, digital identity solutions, OCR technologies and document authentication, KYC solutions and biometric validations. Our team is composed of 4 founders with expertise in the security and fraud prevention, as well as 60+ expert software engineers. We have offices across Latam, with our tech teams based in Colombia.

What is your company going to make? Please describe your product and what it does or will do.

We build APIs and web services that let marketplaces, fintechs, and HR firms in Latin America run background checks, identity verifications, biometric validations, and document authentication. Our tools stop fraud and verify people reliably across the region, even with fragmented data sources and different country regulations.

Where do you live now, and where would the company be based after YC?

We live and base the company in Cali, Valle del Cauca, Colombia, with tech teams physically located there.

Explain your decision regarding location.

Colombia has strong engineering talent and growing demand for fraud prevention across Latam. Being close to our main tech teams lets us move fast and deeply understand local market needs. We focus on Latin America, so staying here helps us build region-specific solutions, not generic global products.
