What Spect does
Vision Disease cause innumerable cases of preventable blindness globally - 415 million diabetic patients worldwide are susceptible to Diabetic Retinopathy (DR), Glaucoma, and more. Current screening protocols for vision disease require ophthalmologists to manually diagnose patients through visual assessment of the fundus. Given the large number of diabetes patients in various communities, this process is expensive, inefficient, and an undue burden on eye clinics.

We've built an AI-powered retinal screening platform that integrates into primary care clinics to catch vision diseases like diabetic retinopathy early. Our software analyzes retinal images quickly and flags high-risk patients, letting primary care doctors triage who needs specialist care before vision loss occurs.
We live in Palo Alto, CA and have a distributed team working remotely. After YC, we'd remain based in Palo Alto while continuing remote work where needed.
Palo Alto keeps us close to partners, investors, and medical institutions. The remote setup helps us access diverse talent and keeps costs manageable during early growth.
