What RTCanary does

WebRTC is the reason we’ve stayed connected and productive during the COVID era, powering most of the browser-based video communications platforms you use every day (Google Meet, Facebook Messenger, etc.). But when a call gets dropped or the audio cuts out, it’s hard for the video developers to understand why it happened. This is a major problem for new players in the video chat industry that lose customers because of call quality issues; customers should be able to use video platforms with the features they want without having to sacrifice call quality.

Monitoring and analytics for video chat platforms

What is your company going to make? Please describe your product and what it does or will do.

We built a plugin that monitors WebRTC calls across any browser-based video platform like Google Meet or Facebook Messenger. It captures detailed real-time data on call quality issues so developers can diagnose why calls drop or audio cuts out. This helps new video platforms improve user experience and retention without sacrificing call quality.

Where do you live now, and where would the company be based after YC?

We live in San Jose, CA and remotely across the US. The company would be based in San Jose after YC.

Explain your decision regarding location.

San Jose is where most of us live and work currently. Being in Silicon Valley puts us close to both engineering talent and the large video platform ecosystem we build for.
