What Couple does

TenthBit Inc. was founded in 2012, in sunny California. The founders, having been disconnected from their significant others while being a part of the YC program, found that they were repurposing many other services to talk to their partners. After many frustrating skype calls, and international text messages, they decided to build Couple. The app now has over two million downloads on iOS and Android and has helped couples send over a billion messages to each other.

What is your company going to make? Please describe your product and what it does or will do.

We built an app that connects two phones to create a private timeline where couples can share messages, photos, and memories. It's designed specifically to solve the problem of couples who end up repurposing chat apps not made for two people. Our product makes communication intimate and focused between two people, unlike generic social apps.

Where do you live now, and where would the company be based after YC?

We live in San Francisco, CA, and the company would be based here after YC.

Explain your decision regarding location.

We chose San Francisco because it's the center of startup activity, and all of us are already here. It's easier to build connections and grow the company from here rather than relocating.
